Chen has overall responsibility for international business group and cross-border investment activities in COS-Capital. Since co-founding COSC, he has led the group in deploying nearly USD 400mn equity capital into US real estate, ranging from core-plus to value-add to opportunistic projects. From 2007 to 2013, Mr. Chen was Managing Director & Head of Global Real Estate (GRE) - Greater China at UBS Global Asset Management. He was responsible for managing and developing the GRE business as well as the strategic initiatives in the region. He was a member of the Asia Pacific Management Committee of UBS Global Asset Management. He spearheaded the establishment of the UBS/Gemdale JV. While serving as Co-CEO for the JV, he successfully led the launch of its first China Real Estate Fund and served as the principal manager for the fund. Joining UBS in 2003 as the Global Head of Research & Strategy, Mr. Chen was responsible for developing investment strategies and conducting portfolio analysis, as well as providing economic, capital market and real estate market analysis in both private and public markets. He served on various global, regional and country investment committees and boards. Further back, Mr. Chen was Principal - Investment Strategies Group at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments for three years. Earlier, he held various investment positions at Boston Financial, SSR Realty Advisors and MetLife Realty Group. He sits on the Board of Asia Pacific Real Estate Association and the Advisory Board of the Global Chinese Real Estate Congress. He was a board member of American Real Estate Society from 2004 to 2009 and a member of the Advisory Board of Real Estate Research Institute from 2003 to 2008. And in 2004-2009, he was a member of the Editorial Boards for Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management and Journal of Real Estate Literature. He holds a PhD from MIT, MS from UBC, and a bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University.

With over 30 years of real estate experience, Mr. Cheng’s work experience has covered a comprehensive range of activities, including ground-up real estate development, real estate investment, fund management, business consulting, commercial banking operations, liquidity, and interest rate risk management. As one of the key founding members of KaiLong in 2004, Mr. Cheng has built and led the team to become a leading player in Asian Pacific, Greater China and London‘s vibrant investment and asset management market. To date, KaiLong has raised a total of 12 domestic and overseas funds and invested over US$3.4 billion in 51 real estate projects. Of these, 30 have already been exited, with excellent risk-adjusted returns.

Before joining KaiLong, Mr. Cheng was senior management of Shui On Land and Standard Chartered Bank.

In 2011, Mr. Cheng founded KFoundation together with generous support from KaiLong employees and friends, uniting the KaiLong community under our shared mission to give back to society. He supports real estate clients with Retail, Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Mixed-Use assets, helping them to grow their operations, create efficiencies, and gain better insight into their business. His expertise includes asset and investment management, private equity, operations improvement, program and project management, finance, technology implementation and compliance.

Bernie has led large-scale technology projects, as well as led and supported Proptech start-ups, across Australia, the USA, Middle East, Asia and Europe. He has over 60 publications to his name, and extensive public speaking experience. Chris’s former employers include MGPA (BlackRock), Link REIT, Simon Property Group, Shui On Land and the Corporation of London. Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Accountancy and a Master of Science degree from Cass Business School in London. He holds a Masters of Corporate Real Estate (M.C.R), a Diploma (Dip.M.) from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is a member of ULI and ICSC in China.

Mr Alvin Loo is Head of China for ARA Group and is responsible for ARA’s business expansion and operations in China. He is also General Manager of AVICT-ARA Fund Management Co, ARA’s locally-incorporated renminbi (RMB) fund management platform. Among other deals, Mr Loo was instrumental in ARA’s RMB20 billion acquisition of Century Link in Shanghai in 2016 and the establishment of ARA’s first RMB fund which acquired The Atrium Mall in Chengdu in 2019. He is also a member of the ARA Group Business Development Committee which drives and coordinates all new ARA business initiatives.

Prior to joining ARA, Mr Loo was an Executive Director in the Commercial Real Estate team in Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). Mr Loo helped build up SCB’s real estate banking business, spending his first year in SCB in Singapore and the last four and a half years in Hong Kong covering the Greater China real estate sector. Prior to joining SCB, Mr Loo was an Associate Director of the real estate, lodging and leisure group at UBS, Singapore from 2006 to 2009. He began his career as a management associate of global financial markets (asset back structured products) at DBS Bank in 2005. In his 10 years covering investment banking in the real estate sector across Singapore, Hong Kong and China, Mr Loo has originated, structured and executed significant equity, debt and M&A transactions, including close to 10 REIT initial public offerings listed on the Singapore and Hong Kong stock exchanges.

Mr Loo holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
