Mr. Pravin Kutumbe has assumed charge as Member (Finance & Investment) in Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on 12th March 2018. Prior to joining IRDAI, he was Executive Director (Finance & Accounts) in LIC of India.

Mr. Pravin Kutumbe, a Chartered Accountant, has more than 33 years of experience in Life Insurance Industry. He has worked as Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer of LIC of India. 

He has been a visiting faculty in many Management Institutions.

His hobbies include reading books and listening to classical music, etc.
 

Sigrid Zialcita

Sigrid is the Chief Executive Officer of Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA). Based in Singapore, she is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, initiatives and operations of the association across Asia Pacific.

Sigrid joined APREA’s executive team in January 2019.

A recognized expert in global economic, public policy and real estate issues, Sigrid is a frequent speaker at industry events. Her commentary on commercial and residential real estate markets is also regularly featured in a wide array of global publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, New York Times and Reuters. Additionally, she has made several television appearances on financial networks and radio such as CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, National Public Radio and Channel News Asia.

Sigrid brings to APREA more than 20 years of experience in economic and real estate research, consulting and business strategy. From 2010 through 2018, she served as Managing Director of Asia Pacific Research and Advisory Services of Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), where she was responsible for research, thought leadership, strategy formulation and client management. Before relocating to Singapore, she was based in Washington, D.C. and led C&W’s U.S. research group in the Mid- Atlantic region, overseeing all aspects of market research activities in the Washington, DC; Virginia; Suburban Maryland, Baltimore; and Philadelphia areas. Prior to joining C&W, Sigrid served as a Senior Economist for the National Association of Realtors (NAR). In that position, she developed NAR’s office, warehouse, retail, multi-family housing, and international research programs.

Sigrid holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and a Master’s degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University. She is a member of several civic groups including the Rotary Club of Raffles City in Singapore, where she has served in various leadership positions.

Hari joined CPPIB in 2014 and is responsible for the India real estate programme. CPPIB has over a C$ 1 Bn committed to India real estate through JVs with Indospace, Phoenix Mills and Shapoorji Pallonji.

Prior to CPPIB, Hari worked for nearly 10 years with Kotak Bank's real estate investment management business as a founding member. Kotak managed over USD$ 1.2 B of assets raised though commingled funds and separate accounts from global SWFs, international LPs and domestic family offices.

He had also worked in the past with Jones Lang LaSalle and CB Richard Ellis in India. Hari holds a Masters in Finance from University of Delhi.

Vikas Chimakurthy

Vikas joined the Kotak Mahindra group in 1999 and has approximately 21 years of work experience. Kotak Realty Fund manages over US$ 1.8 billion of capital.

Prior to joining the Fund in 2007, Vikas worked with Kotak Investment Banking where he headed the real estate and energy sectors. Vikas set up real estate coverage for Kotak Investment Banking. Vikas successfully led M&A transactions across sectors such as energy, telecom, technology, media and chemicals.

Vikas received an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T.-Delhi) and completed his MBA from Faculty of Management Studies (Delhi University).

Gautam Mehra

Gautam Mehra is a Partner with PwC India and leads its Tax and Regulatory practice.

Gautam joined PwC as a Partner in September 2003, and since then has held various roles in the firm. Prior to taking over as the India Tax and Regulatory Leader in July 2015, he was leading PwC’s Tax and Regulatory practice in Western India and the Financial Services’ Tax and Regulatory group. He was also the Asset Management Sector leader for PwC in India.

Over the years, Gautam has been working with multinational and domestic clients across a wide spectrum of tax and regulatory services, and has varied experience of nearly 30 years. Prior to joining PwC, he had stints with two leading accounting and tax consultancy firms, which was followed by a long association over 12 years with an independent practice founded by him. 

Gautam was a member of SEBI’s Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee (AIPAC) as well as of the National Direct Tax Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He frequently speaks at seminars in India and abroad, and regularly contributes to media publications.  He has been a member of the American Chamber of Commerce as well as of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. 

Gautam holds a postgraduate degree in law and financial management and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Gaurav Karnik is Partner with Ernst & Young tax practice in India and is the National Leader for Real Estate sector for EY India and National Leader for Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds for EY India.  Gaurav joined Ernst & Young in 2002 and is based in Gurgaon.  He is a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Delhi University.  Fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi Skills.  Gaurav has more than 20 years of experience in the field of taxation, regulatory matters, and international taxation.  Handling international taxation issues including, permanent establishment issues and other regulatory issues.  Handling Inbound and Outbound tax advisory related issues and Transaction tax related advisory issues.

Bhairav Dalal is the Real Estate Tax Leader, and Partner in the Tax & Regulatory Practice. He has a varied experience in advising Indian and multinational groups in the area of Real Estate, Infrastructure and Private Equity. 

He has over 13++ years of post qualification experience in transaction and tax advisory services. Over the last ten years his focus has been Real Estate.

Bhairav has also advised Real Estate companies on complex projects involving tax optimisation strategies, investment structuring and group restructuring. Given his experience, he has been extensively involved in the REIT / InvIT  discussions in the industry and regulators as well. 

He has handled diverse assignments in the transaction and corporate restructuring space, involving: 

  • Developing real estate fund structures and consummating their investments; and
  • Redevelopment Projects (including SRA’s & Society re-development projects);
  • Infra space such as bid structuring, private equity funding, re-structuring for Singapore BT listing; etc.

Neel Raheja

An alumnus of Harvard Business School and a Masters in Finance & Economics with a Degree in Law, Neel has 24 years of rich business experience.   As Group President of K. Raheja Corp, he handles Real Estate & instrumental in setting up IT Parks and Residential townships across India

Neel is on the board of the Hospitality and Mall development businesses of the group, after initially  setting up the renowned mall brand ‘Inorbit Malls’  across the country, one of the top 3 mall companies.  On the Hospitality front, he successfully set up hotels with Marriott Group and is now among the top 3 leading hotel companies in India.

Neel also sits on the board of the group company Shoppers Stop, India’s leading department store chain, which has an exclusive strategic tie up with Amazon and one of the largest loyalty programs in India.

He also plays a very active role in the Group’s CSR activities including Education including Schools, business and architecture etc. and Health with the famous LS Raheja Hospital and drives the Group’s growth through Green Building initiatives of sustainable development.

Neel was selected as the top 40 under 40 by Economic Times and chairs some of the most important committees that shape key industry developments. He is the Co-Chair at CII-National Committee on Real Estate and Housing, the Chairman, India Chapter of APREA, and President, NAREDCO West. Neel has been appointed on the Govt. of India committee to suggest changes in the Special Economic Zone policy and was one of the members of the Champions of Change invited by the Prime Minister of India.
 

Ankur Gupta

 

Managing Director, Head India Real Estate,

Brookfield Asset Management

Ankur Gupta is a Managing Director in Brookfield’s Property Group and Head of Real Estate business in India, responsible for all aspects of property business in the country including strategy, investments and asset management.

Mr. Gupta has held numerous senior roles within the firm. Previously, he was a senior member of Brookfield’s property investments team in New York where he was involved in investments and financings totaling more than $25 billion including IDI Logistics, Capital Automotive REIT, Associated Estates, Rouse Properties and Forest City Realty Trust.  He has also overseen the establishment and growth of Brookfield’s real estate business in India through three large portfolio acquisitions totaling more than 25 million SF and setting up of Brookfield’s operating team in the country.

Mr. Gupta has more than 12 years of experience in Real Estate. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2012, Mr. Gupta worked for a leading real estate development firm.

Mr. Gupta received his MBA with Dean’s Honors from Columbia Business School and holds a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Mike Holland is Chief Executive Officer of Embassy Office Parks, India’s only listed REIT. Since he joined Embassy Office Parks in 2014, Mike has spearheaded the creation of Embassy Office Parks’ Grade A international-standard commercial office portfolio, and he led the REIT IPO distribution efforts that culminated in a successful listing on the Indian stock exchanges in April 2019.

Embassy Office Parks comprises over 33 million square feet of business parks and city center offices across Bangalore, Mumbai, Noida and Pune. With approximately 25 million square feet of completed office space and hosting over 160 international corporate occupiers in over 75 buildings, Embassy Office Parks is home to a workforce of over 200,000 people. Tenants in the portfolio include Google, Microsoft and IBM from the technology sector (which comprises approximately half the overall portfolio), Wells Fargo, JP Morgan and SwissRe from the banking and financial services sector and Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz and VW from the aerospace and automotive sector.

Mike has worked in Asia since 1995 and has lived in India for close to two decades. He currently resides in Bangalore. He is a member of the Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) South Asia, and he is also a board member of numerous charitable organizations that focus on disability and education.

Prior to joining Värde, Vishal was a Managing Director, Private Investments for The Xander Group where he focused on real estate investments and asset management in India. Prior to that, he was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte.

Vishal received a Bachelor in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India.
 

Anish Tawakley

Anish Tawakley joined ICICI Prudential AMC in April 2016.

He is a Fund Manager & Head of Research at ICICI Prudential AMC. Currently, he manages ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund and ICICI Prudential Manufacture in India Fund for the AMC.

He also heads a team of investment analysts to aid fund management with robust research and analysis. His top-down view on economy and markets form a guiding force for the fund management team during their investment process.

With an overall work experience of more than two decades, Anish has gathered an expertise in capital markets and strategic consulting. He was the Director, Sell side Research and Head of Asia Ex-Japan sector team at Barclays prior to joining ICICI Prudential AMC. He has also worked with leading financial institutions like McKinsey, Bernstein, Credit Suisse, etc in various leadership positions.

Anish holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and B. Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Vikaash Khdloya is the Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Embassy Office Parks REIT.

 

Khdloya has over 16 years of experience out of which 11 has been focused on the real estate sector. Prior to his role in Embassy REIT, he was the Managing Director for Blackstone India - Real Estate group. At Blackstone where he served from 2011 until 2019, Khdloya was involved in direct asset management for the Real Estate group’s investments in India with primary focus on the commercial office portfolio.

 

In the past, Khdloya has also worked as a Vice President at Piramal Fund Management (erstwhile Indiareit) and as the Chief Financial Officer at Gameshastra Solutions Private Limited.

 

Khdloya is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (Gold Medalist, secured Rank 1 in India), a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a CFA® charterholder. He received a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from Osmania University in India. 

 

Khadloya also co-founded EPICS (Earnest People’s Initiative for a Caring Society), a venture philanthropy focused on education and healthcare of impoverished children in India. 

 

Ruchir Sinha

Ruchir Sinha leads the Corporate Transactions group which includes Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Structural Finance at the firm. Ruchir has been involved in several high profile PE/M&A transactions and focuses on financial services, technology and real estate. He also advises leading global sponsors and LPs on setting up of offshore and domestic funds, including the more recent captive investment platforms, from a legal, tax and regulatory perspective. He has been involved in developing pioneering instruments for structured finance. He has represented clients on complex cross border acquisitions and investments including PIPE deals and Capital Market transactions.

Ruchir was nominated amongst the top 3 lawyers in India (under 35 category) at IDEX Legal Awards. Financial Times, London, have nominated several of his transactions in structured finance and private equity as Most Innovative. He is also the recipient of the Scholarship of the International Bar Association for his paper on structured finance at the IBA Conference in Vancouver. He actively contributes to policy development for private equity and structured finance through international industry bodies, and was involved

in the drafting of the SEBI REITs Regulations.

An alumni of the ILS law college, Pune, Ruchir was nominated as amongst the top three from the batch of 2005.

Chanakya Chakravarti

Ivanhoé Cambridge 

Chanakya (Chan) Chakravarti is responsible for implementing, in his territory, the investment and asset management strategies outlined in Ivanhoé Cambridge’s annual business plan and strategic plan, assisted by a team formed for that purpose. He works closely with the Growth Markets team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to put in place and consolidate strategic partnerships for major projects in India. 

Mr. Chakravarti is a seasoned manager and investor with 30 years of experience, including over 22 years with senior executive roles in general management, strategic real estate advisory and implementation, investment and development management in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Before joining Ivanhoé Cambridge in 2018, he was Managing Director and Head of Acquisitions for India, Global Alternatives, Asia, at J.P. Morgan Chase. From 2007 to 2011, he worked for Actis Capital LLP, first as Managing Director and Head of Real Estate for India and then as Chief Executive Officer of BlueLife Ltd. in Mauritius, an Actis portfolio company where he led the conceptualisation of ‘Azuri’ - a prestigious seaside integrated resort scheme. Before that, he was Joint Managing Director and Country Manager at Cushman & Wakefield South Asia for eight years.  

Mr. Chakravarti holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in economics and accounting from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

Yesh Nadkarni

Yesh Nadkarni joined KKR in April 2015 and is head of KKR’s India real estate investment platform. Prior to joining KKR, he spent seven years at J.P. Morgan's principal investing group, the firm’s balance sheet investing platform, where his last role was to oversee the group’s Asia Pacific (ex-China) real estate investing business. Prior J.P. Morgan, Mr. Nadkarni spent over ten years working in a variety of roles focusing on real estate investing and advisory areas across India, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

Mukesh Tiwari is a founding member of the Actis India team and joined Actis in 2018 through the acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank’s Principal Finance Real Estate group by Actis. He was with the Standard Chartered Real Estate Private Equity since its inception in 2010. Mukesh is involved at a senior level with all of the strategic and programmatic joint ventures the group has established in India, he sits on the board of a number of investee companies and is highly involved in their ongoing management.
 
Mukesh has 14 years of experience in the Indian Real Estate industry, across all property types and capital structure spectrum. Prior to Actis and Standard Chartered Bank, he was with DB RREEF, where he spent three years investing within the opportunistic sector. Prior to that, Mukesh worked with Ernst & Young in their corporate finance team advising developers with respect to capital raising.
