Osaka is now firmly in the spotlight, attracting growing investor interest. The city is hosting the 2025 Expo, projected to generate an economic ripple effect of approximately 2.9 trillion yen. Alongside this large-scale redevelopment, described as a once-in-a-century transformation, is underway in Umekita, with full opening scheduled for 2027. Other major districts undergoing redevelopment include Umeda, Yodoyabashi, Nakanoshima, Morinomiya, Namba, and Shinsaibashi.
In the bay area, an integrated resort (IR) with more than 1.2 trillion yen in investment is set to open in 2029, expected to contribute over 1 trillion yen per year in economic impact. Osaka City was designated a “Super City-type National Strategic Special Zone” in 2022, and in 2024, it was named a “Special Zone for Financial and Asset Management,” supporting its ambitions to become a global financial city through regulatory reforms and improved investment frameworks.
Osaka Prefecture is also promoting a vision to serve as Japan’s “sub-capital,” strengthening its position as a backup hub in case of disasters in Tokyo. Currently, around 40% of companies based in the Tokyo metropolitan area already maintain backup operations in Osaka. Meanwhile, inbound tourism has significantly increased, further boosting demand for hotels and hospitality infrastructure.
The APREA Osaka Study Tour will take participants across the city’s North, South, East, and Bay areas, with site visits to office buildings, hotels, retail developments, future medical centers, and the World Expo, offering an in-depth look at the city's investment opportunities.

Nakanoshima Qross
Nakanoshima Qross is a unique hub for the industrialization of future medicine, where medical institutions, companies, startups, support organizations, etc. come together under one roof. The hub is founded by the Future Medicine Promotion Organization, a general incorporated foundation established in Osaka Prefecture in 2019 with 21 private companies. It is made up of three facilities (areas): the Future Medicine MED Center, Future Medicine R&D Center, and Nakanoshima International Forum, each of which has a role in "practicing," "creating," and "sharing" future medicine.
The facility aims to have the companies and medical institutions working together to cycle the roles of "practice," "creation," and "sharing" and to promote the industrialization of cutting-edge "future medicine" that is in line with future advances in medical technology, such as genomic medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), and the IoT, based on regenerative medicine, as well as to promote international contributions through the provision of "future medicine" to patients both in Japan and overseas.
Dojimahama Tower
As a plan for the reconstruction of Osaka Mitsubishi Building, long a symbol of the region, Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development has developed a new landmark to serve as a symbol of the city of water known as Osaka, integrated into the surrounding waterside space with consideration of its regional and historic nature. The building has been reborn as a multi-purpose building encompassing offices, a hotel, and a retail zone with 32 floors above ground and a total floor area of 67,000m2. By offering new working styles and one-of-a-kind experiences, it will further enhance the appeal of its surroundings and strengthen Osaka's international competitiveness.
